Church Musician Today (ISSN 1550-5294), published by the Southern Baptist Convention, has ceased with volume 5, number 6 (2002). The journal began with volume 1, number 1 in September 1997, replacing the Church Musician (ISSN 0009-6466) which began in 1950 as a monthly publication; in 1991 it switched to a quarterly publishing schedule. Church Musician Today had been a forum for ideas on hymnody trends, worship planning, and ideas on music and worship. It often included interviews and music and book reviews.
The Journal of Country Music (ISSN 0092-0517), published by the Country Music Foundation, has undergone a redesign beginning with volume 24, number 3 (2006). The journal's new appearance hopes to reflect their mission to attract more scholarly articles. The new format includes a perfect binding, the latitude to add pages and lengthier articles; the journal is also easier to shelve.
The editors of the Journal of Music Theory (ISSN 0022-2909), published by the Department of Music at Yale University, report that they are behind schedule and will be working on an accelerated schedule this year. At time of printing, volume 48, number 1 (Spring 2004) was the current issue. They expect the second portion of volume 48 and part one of volume 49 to be available by summer 2007.
The Journal of Popular Music Studies (ISSN 1524-2226 [print]; ISSN 1533-1598 [online]) published by Blackwell Publishing on behalf of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, U.S. Branch, will be increasing from three volumes a year to four beginning with volume 19 (2007).
Music Therapy Today (ISSN 1610-191X), published by the Faculty for Medicine at Universitat Witten/Herdecke, has changed to quarterly publication beginning with the February 2005 issue. The journal had formerly been published five times a year ...
