JSAM is the new journal of the Society for American Music (SAM). SAM's former journal American Music continues to be published by the University of Illinois Press but is no longer affiliated with the society. JSAM is SAM's only official journal and all members will receive a copy. Ellie Hisama, the former editor of American Music, has moved, along with the entire editorial staff, to the editorial board of JSAM.
