"They told me they would not be uncomfortable in a place with people overhead and living under them; they preferred an actual house, but they wanted it to be maintenance-free and in the heart of downtown. Burns Court Villas fulfilled their specific needs, and when they saw what I had done with the standard details in each of the town houses, such as crown molding that extends into the closets, they asked if I'd do their interior design scheme for their three-story home."

Dalton, who studied architecture and moved to Sarasota from Connecticut in 1984, served as Westwater's design director for the overall look of the town homes and the private park, on which he collaborated with landscape architect Michelle Scranton of LandEscapes in Sarasota. …
