Robert Elwin Bonace, 81, Sarasota, died Sept. 26, 2007.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Packer Funeral Home, Sarasota. A service is at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Palms Memorial Park.
Robert Elwin "Bob" Bonace died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., following a brief illness.
Bob was born in Warren, Pa., on Feb. 13, 1926, a son of the late Robert Joseph and Vera Lucille Schafer Bonace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis A. Bonace of Warren.
He served in the Army during World War II and worked for the Postal Service from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. He was of the Catholic faith.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and uncle, and a generous and caring friend.
Bob was past president and member of the board of Sarasota Meals on Wheels and a member of Elks Lodge 1519, American Legion Post 320, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3233 and the Gulf Gate Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne L. Bonace; a daughter, Sue Anne Blankenship, and her companion, George Loranger; a son, Robert C. Bonace, and his wife, Tammy; one brother, Dennis L. Bonace of Warren; four grandchildren, Robert P. Bonace, Emily M. Alexandrino, Dennis S. Bonace and Daniel J. Mulligan; and several nieces and nephews.
