KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Britain would like to see Malaysia and other Asean member countries continue to maintain pressure on the Myanmar government until Yangon stopped supressing its people and engaged in a genuine democratisation process, said its High Commissioner to Malaysia Boyd McCleary.

He said that London welcomed Kuala Lumpur's stand on Myanmar, which is also known as Burma, where Malaysia had expressed its deep concern with the situation there.

He said Britain was also in talks with Malaysian leaders and officials over the Myanmar crisis.

"It is important for Malaysia and other regional governments to make it clear (to the Myanmar government) that what is happening is simply not acceptable," he told Bernama in an interview at the high commission here Friday.
