TAIPEI, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Nearly 84 per cent of office workers who responded to a recent survey expressed their desire to enter the hi-tech industry, according to the survey results released Saturday.
The survey, conducted by the online employment service provider 1111 Job Bank, found that the top reason why the hi-tech industry is such an attractive career choice is the good pay promised by the industry, mentioned by 46.87 per cent of respondents.
The other two most-mentioned reasons are good benefits (36.36 per cent) and stable work environment (30.55 per cent).
Among the workers who expressed no interest in the hi-tech industry, 37.26 per cent said the work environment is too exclusive, 33.96 per cent were concerned about the long hours and 33.02 per cent were not keen on the monotonous nature of the work.
In the semiconductor area, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is the company that most office workers wish to enter, favored by 64.55 per cent of respondents. The other two most popular choices are United Microelectronics Corp. (42.7 per cent) and the ASE Group (23.75 per cent).
