DEL MONTE PACIFIC PICKS UP 40 PCT STAKE IN INDIA'S FIELDFRESH.
NEW DELHI, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - US-based food and beverage major Del Monte Pacific Ltd has picked up a 40 per cent stake in Bharti Enterprises-promoted farm venture FieldFresh.
"Del Monte will bring to FieldFresh its immense strength and experience in the area of processing and branded food products," Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal said in a statement.
When contacted, a company spokesperson refused to divulge financial details. However, industry sources said the deal is in the range of Rs 3.5-4 billion (US$88-100 million).
"Having created the basic building blocks of the business in the fresh produce category, we are looking at up scaling our operations through processing and value added products," Mittal said.
