SEOUL, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - KTF Co. (KSE:032390), South Korea's second-largest mobile carrier, said Sunday that the number of subscribers to its third-generation (3G) mobile service has more than doubled to 2 million in less than three months.
KTF launched the 3G service "Show," based on high-speed downlink packet access for faster data transfer and video telephony, nationwide in March in a bid to surpass its arch-rival SK Telecom Co. (KSE:017670) in the new mobile communications market. SK Telecom commenced its own service in the same month.
It took less than three months for the number of KTF's 3G users to grow from 1 million in early July to the 2-million mark, the company noted.
