- Doctors in charge warn that every emergency unit in the NSW public health system is plagued with chronic management problems that jeopardise patient care.
- Joyce Davies, the black wife of retired NSW District Court judge Joe Gibson, is contemplating a civil lawsuit against police for racial discrimination and the excessive use of force after being pulled over for a breath test in May last year.
- The number of Australians identifying themselves as Christian will plummet over the next 20 years as an ageing generation of dedicated churchgoers dies out.
- People accused of certain crimes, including drink-driving and some forms of assault, will no longer receive a full brief of evidence against them before they have to enter a plea, but lawyers and civil libertarians say the move to cut police paperwork erodes the right of an accused.
