East Surry, Mount Airy raring to go.

Sep. 28--When asked if the annual Mount Airy-East Surry football game has become less of a rivalry because of its recent one-sided nature, Coach Dave Diamont of East let out a loud laugh.

But from Diamont's position, there has been a lot to enjoy about recent games in the series -- his team has won seven of the past eight.

Mount Airy and East Surry will take unbeaten records into tonight's Northwest 1-A showdown in Pilot Mountain. And although Mount Airy (5-0, 2-0) has put together its unbeaten record a little more impressively than East (6-0, 3-0), it's easier to anticipate the unexpected than it is to expect a blowout. …
