Standards body to draft ECM bible
Kim Thomas
The British Standards Institute is to develop a standard for enterprise content management (ECM).
The standard will be available in the summer of 2008, and is being developed by Ben Richmond, founder and CEO of The Content Group, an organisation that gives advice on implementing ECM systems.
Richmond said there was currently no publicly recognised standard for ECM, adding that the popularity of ECM with organisations had grown fast in the past five years, particularly as a way of meeting compliance requirements.
"This is a fast-track industry. As well as lots of great success stories, there are a number of implementations that don't have the same level of success, and we need to raise the bar in terms of quality of implementations in the ECM sector."
