In Japan in 1615, the forces of the Tokugawa Shogunate confronted the forces of the ruling Toyotomi clan at Osaka Castle. The Tokugawa forces outnumbered the Toyotomi and time was on their side. The Toyotomi, realizing their strategic disadvantage, sought to improve their situation. To that end, they staged a small, surprise attack that succeeded in breaking into the shogun's camp, but there they met someone they did not expect.
