In 1963 Eastman-Kodak introduced the Instamatic, one of the first compact cameras. Consumers no longer had to navigate camera settings or a darkroom. You popped in the Kodapak film cartridge, snapped away, and gave the film to a processing lab. The Instamatic took to the next level the small size and simplicity pioneered by Eastman-Kodak's Brownie.
