When methadone was found in Anna Nicole Smith's refrigerator after she died suddenly on Feb. 8, many assumed that she had succumbed to an overdose. She did--to chloral hydrate. In fact, she was taking methadone for pain and had therapeutic levels in her system, according to Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper.
