"Could martial law ever become a reality in America?" asks reporter Jeff Ferrell for KSLA News 12, a CBS affiliate in Shreveport, Louisiana. The concept of martial law, the policing of American citizens by the United States military, is almost unthinkable for the average American. At least it would have been prior to August of 2005, when martial law was implemented in New Orleans in the days following Hurricane Katrina. Residents were left powerless to protect their families and their homes as the U.S. military confiscated firearms from the many victims left homeless by Katrina.

Is this what Americans are now to expect in the event of another national disaster? Taking into consideration the reporting of KSLA News 12, this is exactly what the U.S. government has in store for its citizens.
