Sep. 19--Supporters of treating kidney disease patients at home rather than in dialysis centers where it can be more expensive got a boost Tuesday from a study showing dramatic improvements in heart condition and certain other outcomes after people were treated in their homes overnight.

The news could give momentum to companies like Deerfield-based Baxter International Inc., which supplies dialysis medications and equipment used for in-home treatment.
