FIXINGS FIRST
If I don't feel comfortable in it, however much I may love it, then I have no business wearing it! That means no more of the miniskirts I so loved in my youth. Dressing for my 40s, I have become more conscious of the importance of accessories. I always choose my jewelry and bags first, then plan the rest of my outfits (dark Citizens of Humanity jeans or slim black Theory pants and a crisp white Donna Karan shirt), which are like blank canvases so the accessories (stacked bangles, statement ring, crocodile clutch) really pop.
TIME AND AGAIN
My closet is 70 percent vintage-I have a weakness for velvet Pucci blazers, Schiaparelli jewelry, and Courreges and Halston dresses.
