An industry coalition has upped the ante in the debate over how best to clean the air above Southern California ports by putting together a fleet of 100 low-polluting trucks that run on liquefied natural gas.
Retailer Target Corp., ocean carrier NYK Line and local trucking company Total Transportation Services Inc. are purchasing 20 of the trucks. Funding for the other 80 is coming from the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
