Central America and Caricom begin talks.

The Caribbean Community and Central America recently conducted free-trade discussions in Panama.

Caricom members and the CA-6 coalition of six Central American countries hoped to agree on a framework for negotiations, including locations for the talks and the number of rounds to be held, according to a release by the trade and industries ministry of Caricom, known as MICI.

Together the groups represent a market of nearly 50 million consumers and an economic growth rate of 5 percent on average for the past two years.
