ROSEVILLE, Calif., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Leading independent telecommunications holding company SureWest Communications today announced that its proposal for a scheduled reduction in draws from the California High Cost Fund B (CHCF-B) was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

Under the proposed plan, the $10.2 million SureWest anticipates receiving in 2007 from the CHCF-B would be reduced by approximately $2 million annually over the course of 5 years. For example, SureWest would receive $10.2 million in 2007, approximately $8.2 million in 2008 and approximately $6.2 million in 2009, continuing that pattern until the number reaches zero in 2012. Various proposals were reviewed by the Commission, including the termination of the CHCF-B reimbursement immediately.
