Two 20-year-olds, Luke Irons and his girlfriend Chrisanthe Apergis, decided to rob elderly victims. They picked the elderly so that they could safely commit strong-arm robbery.

The couple began their predations on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. in Manatee County, Florida, where they approached a 92-year-old man in his carport and asked to use his bathroom. The elderly gentleman said yes, and Irons "dragged the man into the mobile home and started beating him," reported the Herald. The couple also sprayed the man with pepper spray, before stealing his car.

The couple's next victim was Cora Canale, 12 hours later. Irons broke glass on a door to enter her residence, dragged Canale from her bed, and began beating and choking her.
