Out of this world: shaker design, past, present, and future.
Shakers have always lived in communities separated from "the World"--people who do not share their religious beliefs--yet they have never been completely isolated from it. The physical and spiritual intersections between the Shakers and the various worlds outside their communities, and the crosscurrent effects over time of those interactions on Shaker and non-Shaker design, are explored in this article.
