Balenciaga's blazers and Proenza Schouler's slouchy pants have got my husband, Craig [McDean], worried. Not because I'll wear them-on the contrary, he knows I have loved buying menswear-inspired pieces for years. (While the proportions may change, I find it's a trend that never goes away.) He's just tired of my borrowing his Dior Homme jackets and Thom Browne shirts. I like the look because of the tension between something that is sharply tailored but hangs in a coolly androgynous way. Take this Ann Demeulemeester jacket (above). I played up the looseness of it with the Thakoon crop pants but also made it a little more feminine by adding a DKNY beaded tank and Balenciaga high-heeled hiking boots. The main rule with menswear is never sacrifice femininity. A man's shirt-good. A man's shirt and tie-not good. Unless, that is, you are intent on re-creating Kim ...
