In the movies bodies are usually found by children playing. Maybe it's the portrayal of innocence finding evil that writers like. The kids generally don't appear again in the story after that.
We used to eat separately from my Dad because of the fighting he would start with us, so he was safely fed and downstairs watching TV when I came home. My mother called it his deprogramming time.
I was six and I remember my brother telling my Morn he'd found a body in a bag.
"Hmm, a body," she said as she stirred our dinner, not believing.
Saying there was a pair of legs still didn't get her attention as she pottered with saucepans and oven gloves.
"Oh it was probably a couple of legs of lamb or something," she said as she leaned over the stove-top.
My brother said one of those things children say to adults that are short and true and can stop a dinner party:
