Aug. 24--DURANGO -- La Plata County has reported its first West Nile case of the year, bringing the state's total to 146.

Three people have died.

The Durango Herald said a 52-year-old man who lives between Durango and Bayfield tested positive for the disease this week. Eleven cases have been reported in recent days.
