Aug. 21--RALEIGH

North Carolina's agriculture, a $66 billion industry, will be vital to the state's economic future and needs continued support from state government, three candidates for governor said last night.

In speeches at the annual dinner of the N.C. Agribusiness Council, two Republicans and one Democrat outlined why they want to be elected North Carolina's next governor in 2008.
