I cannot seem to get a reply from the San Francisco Symphony or its producer of the Mahler recordings. I am referring to the letter to the editor by R.H. Baldwin in issue 111. Perhaps you or one of your reviewers can clear up this question

Is the Stereo SACD layer on the SFSO Mahler discs actually a 2 Channel SACD mix or is it the same quality as the red book 16 bit cd layer?

I do not know the answer to this. The problem is that the disks are self-produced by the orchestra and then distributed through normal channels (at very high prices). The distributors cannot provide this type of ...
