Nigel Cooper, immediate past chairman of Eventia and executive director at agency P&MM, has hit back at the Lords for putting the proposed Corporate Manslaughter Bill in jeopardy, warning that agency staff could face jail terms.

The proposed Bill was again rejected by the Lords last month, and were an agreement not to be reached with the Government by 17 July, it was set to be scrapped.

Cooper warned that the resultant lack of clarity would mean agency staff would have to be extremely vigilant. 'It means there is still no official legislation defining responsibilities,' he said. 'Therefore, corporate manslaughter is covered under case law and open to …
