Sebastian Currier, an exclusive Carl Fischer composer, has been named the 2007 winner of the Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition for his 2005 composition Static, for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano. The award, which includes a $200,000 cash grant, was announced and presented on March 8, 2007, at a special concert at Carnegie Hall celebrating the Grawemeyer Awards and the 75th Anniversary of the School of Music at the University of Louisville, which administers the award.
