From the Top, the NPR radio show featuring America's best young classical musicians, has announced its new mentoring scholarship, the Jack Kent Cooke Talent Development Award for $5,000, renewable after one year for a total award of $10,000. The award, funded by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, will be given annually to three to five young classical musicians between the ages of 8 and 14 to use towards new instruments, private lessons and music instruction camps. Recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Talent Development Award must meet high academic standards, demonstrate financial need and possess exceptional long-range musical potential.
