Skin Typing
Take the guesswork out of caring for

Relationship gurus say knowing your "type" makes it easier to find your perfect match -- and in a rare meeting of the minds, so do dermatologists. "One of the biggest mistakes women make with their skin is using the wrong products," says Leslie Baumann, professor of dermatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine and author of The Skin Type Solution (Bantam). "And then they assume that they're just having bad-skin days." Fortunately, the key to finding the right products is simple: Identify your skin type. There are four major types -- sensitive, oily, dry, or combination -- and all you need is running water, a well-lit mirror, and this easy test to figure out yours. "Treating the skin with the right ingredients will improve the way it looks and feels, and can even change the type from, say, sensitive to normal and calm," Baumann says.
