Anna Faris gets great reviews in movies that don't.
A Variety notice of her upcoming film Smiley Face called her performance "sterling" and barely mustered a "genial" for the larger effort. There are a couple exceptions: memorable parts in Brokeback Mountain and Lost in Translation. But Faris's real bread and butter is the pea-brained parody of Scary Movie 1, 2, 3, and 4. The franchise has made Faris, 30, the self-declared "Spoof Comedy Queen." Why "Ah-na" and not Anna? My parents named me after my great-grandmother. I think people misinterpret it as being a little pretentious. People are so cruel. Do you have to dye your hair often to maintain that screaming white blonde? My hair is naturally light, but it's boring and kind of unattractive. Also, I'm allergic to bleach. Without peroxide, how do you do the white blonde? I'm not quite sure what the chemicals are. If they use bleach or anything harsh on me, my head swells up and I have to get an emergency steroid shot. We had to have our pool converted [to saline]. It's pretty inconvenient -- ...
