HANOI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - POSCO Co. (KSE:005490), South Korea's biggest steelmaker, began building a US$490 million factory in Vietnam as part of its US$1.12 billion project to meet growing steel demand in this emerging Asian country.
The plant, located at the Phu My industrial complex near the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh and slated for completion by 2009, will produce 1.2 million tons of cold-rolled steel a year, the South Korean company said.
