KOLKATA, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - A day after winning the Sasan ultra mega power project, Reliance Energy Ltd (BSE:500390) Tuesday emerged as the front runner to bag a contract valued at nearly Rs 40 billion (US$988.3 million) to set up a power plant for Damodar Valley Corporation.
The Anil Ambani group firm is the sole bidder for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for DVC's proposed 1,000 MW thermal power plant at Raghunathpur in Purulia district of West Bengal.
"Reliance Energy turned out to be the sole bidder for EPC contract despite extension given as desired by interested parties including BHEL," a top DVC official said.
