SEOUL, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea is expected to start mass production of hybrid-engine cars in 2011, a state-run think tank said Wednesday.
The date is slightly later than estimates released by local car manufacturers that mass production could begin in 2010, the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET) said.
A hybrid car runs on both gasoline and electricity while consuming much less gasoline that conventional vehicles. However, it is much more expensive to produce.
