TAIPEI, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expressed the hope Tuesday that a new U.S. measure to expand visa-free privilege to nationals of foreign countries for a maximum stay of 90 days will be applicable to the people of Taiwan.
Wang Chien-yeh made the remarks after the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate passed the Secure Travel and Counterterrorism Partnership last week, under which the U.S. government will ease restrictions on 90-day visa-free privileges for foreign visitors.
At present, nationals of 27 countries are entitled to U.S. visa-free treatment, including Japan, Australia and West European nations.
