SEOUL, August 1 Asia Pulse - Talks between E.Land group's management and its labour union failed to reach a settlement that could end the current strike, company officials said Tuesday.
The three-hour meeting between executives and unions leaders from Homever discount store and New Core Co., broke down with both sides reasserting their differences.
The union called on the company to hire existing contract employees as regular workers and rehire people who were laid off in the past few months. They also demanded an end to the company's efforts to outsource cashier positions.
The retail, fashion and leisure company, however, reiterated that it will directly hire outsource workers after 10 month of seeing how they perform, and pledged to give more permanent employment to contract workers who have been with the company for more than 18 months.
