Eccentric Soul is the fifth disc in a continuing series of compilations featuring 1960s soul and rhythm and blues labels that were mostly unknown to wide audiences.

Functioning much like a time capsule, Eccentric captures the essence of the multi-racial Phoenix, Arizona soul music scene through the recordings of "Mighty" Mike Lenaburg, a Liverpool, England-born R & B fan, record store clerk and, later, independent label owner.

Having moved from the Los Angeles area in the late 1950s, Lenaburg became obsessed with North American soul music at an early age and got into producing after some success as a DJ, manager and promoter of performers.

Featured on Eccentric is a vibrant smattering of singles released by Lenaburg on a variety of local imprints between 1962 and 1980. Just about every style popular in the period was covered, including gritty, ...
