First of all, I would like to thank the editorial staff of ColorLines for doing work that focuses on issues affecting the poor and disenfranchised.

I am writing this note regarding the article "Suicide Rate Up Among Latina Teens" (March/April 2007).

I am a pediatrician practicing in the Bronx, and my patient population is almost entirely African American and Latino. I myself am the daughter of Latino immigrants. As a medical doctor, I need to point out that by far, the underlying predictor of future suicide among all ethnic groups is mental ...
