Parliament's Regulations Review Committee (RRC) has upheld part of NZNO's complaint against the Nursing Council's decision to change the title of second-level nurses trained after 2000 from enrolled nurse (EN) to nurse assistant (NA). The RRC heard NZNO's complaint, filed last December, in early May (Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, May 2007, p8) and tabled its report in Parliament early this month. It recommends Nursing Council amend its notification of scopes of practice published in September 2004, "to ensure that it does not have an unauthorised retrospective effect on the title of the second-level nurses who began training or graduated between the year 2000 and 18 September 2004".
