For 116 years, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA) (1) and its forty-four state societies have influenced the historical landscape of the United States through the restoration and preservation of scores of buildings and countless furnishings. Their current portfolio includes tens of thousands of objects and sixty-two properties at which they play an active and ongoing role in preservation and management: eighteen have been deemed National Historic Landmarks, forty-two are on the National Register of Historic Places, and many have been awarded recognition from local historical districts.
