A commonly used brand name in the U.S. and Canada is Aredia.

Another commonly used name is APD.

Description Pamidronate (pa-mi-DROE-nate) is used to treat hypercalcemia (too much calcium in the blood) that may occur with some types of cancer. It is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone. This medicine may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

This medicine is to be administered only by or under the supervision of your doctor. It is available in the following dosage form:

 
   Parenteral 
      o Injection (U.S. and Canada) 

Before Receiving This Medicine In deciding to use a medicine, the risks of receiving the medicine must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you and your doctor will make. For pamidronate, the following should be considered:

Allergies -- Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to pamidronate or etidronate. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.
