Bill Ups Spending By $130 Million
SANTA FE -- Senate Democrats said Tuesday that they can't wait until 2003 for Gov. Gary Johnson's proposal to increase education funding and want to spend $130 million more on public schools this year.
Senate Bill 100, introduced Tuesday, would put all of the state's estimated new revenue for next year into public schools. That would be about 10 percent more than the state is spending on schools this year.
