Boca Grande Pass tarpon action is like the weather: really hot.

That's a difficult question to answer, but there's little doubt both are hot.

And tarpon fishing in Boca Grande Pass has been very good. Most of the action is occurring during the day for those using jigs, according to Robert Lugiewicz of Fishin' Frank's in Charlotte Harbor.

"There are a lot of tarpon in the pass," he said. "Also, there are fish scattered out in the inshore Gulf of Mexico along the beaches. And we're starting to see tarpon trickling into the harbor."

Along the beaches, tarpon are going for threadfin herring, crabs and D.O.A. Baitbusters.
