DALLAS -- A lopsided vote for expanded gambling in Wyandotte County will eventually result in additional millions of tax dollars flowing to the Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., Unified Government.

Unofficial results show that more than 80% of voters at Tuesday's election supported the establishment of a destination casino in the county, with 82% in favor of adding at least 800 slot machines at the Woodlands horse racetrack in western Wyandotte County. More than 20% of registered voters cast their ballots.

The combined city-county government expects the new gambling venues to generate more than $8 million in new property taxes a year when casino operations begin…
