The "pawdecures," pet portraits, raffles and pet information stations were all part of a fundraising effort for cancer research.

Dressed to K-Nines, in Venice, provided the outfits, and co-owner Cynthia Meade was present to help the contestants with their costumes.

"Captain Red," a 2 1/2-year-old Maltese, was smartly dressed in an Uncle Sam outfit, and marched off with the title "Cutest Canine."

Giving "Captain Red" a run for his money were Yorkies, "Hunter," 1 1/2, and "Balley," 7 months. The pair looked delightful as the "Wedding Couple." Proud owner Ellie Bresnahan, Venice, watched from the edge …
