MAUI, HAWAII -- Long-term efficacy of PUVA in a subset of mycosis fungoides patients is such that "I think we can start using the term cure," Dr. Joan Guitart said at the annual Hawaii Dermatology Seminar sponsored by Skin Disease Education Foundation.
Cure has been elusive in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Oncologists have been unable to show improvement in prognosis, even with early aggressive chemotherapy "That word, cure, is almost taboo in oncology,'" observed Dr. Guitart, professor of dermatology at Northwestern University, Chicago.
