Samsung Electronics (One Samsung Place, Ledgewood, NJ 07852; Tel: 800/SAMSUNG, Fax: 973/691-6219) introduced the world's first 40- in. TFT-LCD, ushering in the era of wide screen TFT displays. A diagonal of 30 in. or higher was considered the technological limit for this type of display. But Samsung has taken this technology to the next level.

The new TFT-LCD display has more than twice the pixels of a 42-in. VGA plasma display, resulting in much batter picture clarity. The display has about 980,000 pixels (1280 horizontally by 768 vertically) to provide a wide screen with XGA definition.
