Jun. 23--Like most teenagers, Trevor Bayne went to the DMV on his 16th birthday in February to apply for his driver's license.
But unlike most teens, Bayne already owned 23 racing championships and more than 300 wins behind a race car wheel.
That made the test less about skill and nerves and more about surpressing his need for speed.
"It was crazy because they made me go through a school zone where the speed limit was 15 [mph]," said Bayne, who will drive for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in today's Hooters Pro Cup Series race at Myrtle Beach Speedway. "That's pretty slow when you're used to doing 100."
Bayne can drop the hammer in tonight's Greased Lightning 200. It's a led-footed tendency the native of Spartanburg and the resident of Knoxville, Tenn., has shown almost since birth.
After receiving a dirt bike with training wheels at the age of 3, Bayne got a go-kart as a gift from his father at the age of 5 and began racing...
