SOUTH KOREA TO EASE RURAL RESTRICTIONS TO HELP FARMERS
SEOUL - The South Korean government said Thursday it plans to ease rural development restrictions to allow farmers to cope with an expected drop in agricultural output after a free trade pact with the United States goes into effect.
In a meeting attended by President Roh Moo-hyun, agricultural experts and farmers in Gimje, North Jeolla Province, the government said it is moving to allow farmers to use their land so they can take part in joint business ventures with outside investors.
